The Imperial Praetorian Guard were elite warriors in service to the Supreme Leader of the First Order. Successors to Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guard, they were fiercely loyal and highly skilled in combat.
Their primary role was the personal protection of Supreme Leader Snoke, and later, Kylo Ren. Identifiable by their crimson armor and unique melee weapons, they represented the ultimate expression of First Order martial prowess.
Individual Praetorian Guards are not named or given distinct backstories within the Star Wars canon. They function as a collective, embodying the power and ruthlessness of the First Order. Their training regimen was undoubtedly rigorous, honed to perfection in anticipation of any threat to their leader.
While faceless and largely silent, they demonstrated significant combat abilities during the throne room battle in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, proving to be formidable opponents for Rey and Kylo Ren (while he turned from the Dark Side)
